Green Township is a southern Ohio township situated in Hamilton County. According to the U.S. Census bureau, about 58,000 people lived in Green Township in 2010. Today, Green Township is the 3rd largest township in the state of Ohio, falling behind West Chester and Colerain townships.
Green Township was formed in 1809 by settlers who made their livings by hunting and trapping. As other settlers moved into the area, farming became the primary means of earning a living and by 1920 there were 848 farms in operation. The township is named in honor of Revolutionary War Major General Nathanael Greene.
